Dear
Michael,
I want to tell you how important Bikram Yoga has been in my life since
you introduced me to it when you opened your studio in May 2002.
First of all, I want to tell you that I have never stuck to any physical
routine for over four years! Never! I usually get bored and move on to
something else. I've even done other types of yoga, and though I liked
them, I never have been as hooked as I am with Bikram.
I am intrigued
with the concept of the yoga as a practice, not something you master,
but something that is in constant flux. It's fascinating to feel how different
my body feels during the class from day to day or even time of day and
then having to adjust my practice to a point that is beneficial without
pain. I have been able to apply this "it's a practice" to other
areas of my life as well.
I have learned a tremendous amount about myself in the mirrors. Most yoga
doesn't use mirrors like Bikram. What an incredible teacher the mirrors
have been! I've watched my body cheat, change and gain peace from inside
out. Looking at oneself in a mirror for 90 minutes can be difficult with
selfesteem, self-image and lack of self-love issues that I have defmitely
wrestled with from time to time. The mirror and my calm gaze are best
of friends now.
As you know I am a graduate of Barbara Brennan School of Healing, a four-year
program. The last three years of school I was going to your studio regularly.
The knowledge I gained doing those 26 poses about my racing mind, super
ego, my breath and energy shifts that occur in the poses was "priceless".
I believe I learned more about myself and thus from my training and am
a better energy healer because of you, your teaching and Bikram Yoga.
The yoga studio is a very safe haven for me, especially during two really
tough summers in my business. Making money was hard, I was short in the
office and I was stressed on every level. Getting to Bikram was an assured
place for peace-no phones, no decisions and no talking! I made an effort
to get there as often as possible because it was such a refuge for me
to escape and refuel my tank with love, energy and peace. I use to call
Fridays class at 4:30 pm my "happy hour" because that is the
best high you can get in town!
My heart is open with gratitude to you for keeping the course and spreading
the word of Bikram and his yoga. I do understand how hard it is to run
a business and have respect for your ability to have grown the studio
into a viable means of support for you. I honor the transformational journey
we have both been on since our paths crossed.
Love and
Light,
Carol Meyer
